The Beat Goes On joins in with its take on songs as diverse as Dylan's "Positively 4th Street"; The Ramones "Rockaway Beach", Simon & Garfunkel's "Sounds of Silence"; Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side"; John Lennon's "New York City " and Ben E. King's "Spanish Harlem," among others. First you see how it's done, THEN you go and see how it ISN'T done, even though it makes you much more money! Whatever happened to that funny-haired Idol guy, Jason Heffalump, or Justin Giraffealope or whatever.....is his 15 minutes already up? Crap....that means he's gonna come looking for my bartending gig....."Former American Idol, presently Grumpy Bitter Guy Behind Bar".....sigh.....it happens....trust me..... SO...me and "Frolicking Craig" Chesler will be hammering out the hits as much as we can in one hour.... Thursday, June 23rd at Sidewalk Cafe Ave. A and 6th St...... 8:00....and we mean 8!! don't come late, you'll miss stuff............honest! 4.27.2005 Here tis....the last of the last Thursday of the month gigs!! We've really enjoyed this run and might do the same in the coming months. After numerous delays, and waiting for the Master Control Fader on the Blacksmith Shop Studios board to get fixed (heck, there ain't shade tree mechanics for these things!!) and waiting upon the ever-gone Leo to return from yet another Ben Folds tour........we're FINALLY gonna start this freakin' follow up rekkid to Cross-Eyed and Bow-Legged. whew. Never thought these songs would see the light of day...or even the dark of night....or even the orange-y blue of....ahhh...anyway..... Young Craig Chesler, has released his album, Nowhere Too Far, and it's bein' played all over the country!!! You can order it at www.CraigChesler.com or at CDBaby.com! Come down and see us tomorrow (Thursday) at 10 sharp!!! See youtomorrow! Tom 4.7.2005 Let's get this straight. See....I was never a drug guy. To me, psychedelic was going to the corner market with my friend Paul Frisbee, buying as much candy as we could (zotz, razzles, bottle caps, the weird cotton candy in a foil pouch, sugar daddy's, turkish taffy, etc.....) washing it down with a sixteen cent Jolly Good Soda (with the joke on the inside of the can) then going to the park and having your friend spin you around on the merry-go-round as fast as they could until you puked. Same effect, slightly cheaper. I might be wrong. But when it comes to the psychedelic music, I don't think my candy-ritual- thing could have created such wild stuff. I think I woulda had to make that last step. The drugs took you on a "Journey to the Center of Your Mind", my thing took you on a "Journey to the Center of the Dentist Chair" woooooooooooo.....trippy! Come down to the Beat Goes On Tribute to Psychedelia this Saturday. It's a GREAT band, as usual, and we'll all partake in the Cosmic Kool-Aid, o.k.?? I might be at a back table with a mirror doing a line out of a pixie Stix tube......dude.........
